Paraplanning Manager

The purpose of your role will be to ensure that the advice provided to our clients is of the highest quality and delivered in an efficient manner; whilst mitigating any risks to the business and assisting with the achievement of business targets. You will be responsible for managing a small team of paraplanners, creating a culture where individuals strive towards meeting both their individual and business goals.

You will be required to:

  • Manage the workflow of the Paraplanning team to ensure effective allocation of workloads and consistency of approach within the team;
  • Possess the Technical ability to both understand and produce detailed analytical reports for the business to ensure that service levels are maintained;
  • To provide support, development and line management to individuals within the paraplanning team, maintain a culture where individuals strive towards meeting both their individual and business goals and deliver a complete, client centric, research, technical and report writing service;
  • To understand team dynamics and maintain positive working relationships across departments, with effective management of resource.

People Management responsibilities:  

  • To maintain and interpret Paraplanning KPIs and MI to ensure the effective management of the team and development of individuals;
  • Identify any emerging issues or trends within the team and put steps in place to address these;
  • To work with the Paraplanning Team and the Chief Operating officer to ensure all paraplanners are adequately trained and supported to carry out their roles;
  • To undertake regular 1:2:1s to discuss progress towards individual and business objectives and provide constructive feedback on performance;
  • To ensure individuals are working efficiently and maintaining all agreed quality benchmarks;
  • To undertake staff appraisals in line with company policy;
  • To motivate and create an environment where people thrive;
  • To cultivate an environment that makes everyone accountable for their actions;

Operational and technical responsibilities:  

  • To oversee the workflow of cases across paraplanning to manage service levels are maintained;
  • To liaise with Compliance, client support and advisers to address issues and escalation of cases where necessary;
  • To engage with key stakeholders in the business to plan review resource and escalate issues that could affect delivery;
  • Review FCA thematic reviews to provide feedback and input on internal processes to ensure an effective compliant way of working;
  • To drive improvements to processes and procedures within the team to create efficiencies and ensure best practice in all areas;
  • To ensure systems are kept up to date and maintain accurate and relevant MI;
  • To ensure relevant parties are up to date with the progress of cases within paraplanning and prioritise cases in line with business and client needs;
  • Ensure that internal processes and procedures are fully documented and are reviewed regularly to optimise efficiency and best practice;

Successful Candidates will have:

  • Experience of providing paraplanning service, an ability to manage workloads effectively whilst balancing priorities;
  • Experience of managing a highly productive team to deliver an efficient technical research and quality report writing service;
  • Experience and understanding of overseeing the delivery of high-quality advice within a business;
  • Analytical and numerical ability – able to analyse and interpret data, evaluate data;
  • Highly organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills;
